Bathroom Makeover on a Budget!

Ever since we moved into our new apartment nearly a year ago, our guest bathroom is one of the spaces that I have been dying to give a bit of a face lift to!  I had outgrown the old color scheme and patterns and wanted to go for a whole new aesthetic!  I love interior design…HGTV is my jam!  I’m passionate about design but I’m also just as passionate about doing it on a budget!  Lets face it, being a one income household does not leave us much wiggle room for extra expenses.  I wanted to show you guys that it is possible to make your space into a place you love without breaking the bank!

Our old bathroom was filled with yellows and grays and hints of white and gold.   It was also very plain with nothing on the walls at all.  I wanted to make this room more inviting for when we have guests over.  I don’t know if it’s just me, but bathrooms are pretty important in my opinion.  It’s a place where I can go to and unwind at night in a relaxing bath.  I want my guests to feel that same calming vibe whenever they use it as well.

My vision for the bathroom was to make it bright with a minimalist feel.  I found the perfect rug at Target and worked the rest of the space around that.

Tip:  When trying to get a vision for your space.  Pick one focal piece and then branch off from there!

I was instantly obsessed with the print of this rug and loved the tassels on the side.  It also matched perfectly with the vision I had for a black, white, and gray color scheme.  This rug is from the Nate Berkus collection at Target.  I’m literally obsessed with everything in his home line!  Nate Berkus can you please just design my whole apartment?  The hand towels are also from his collection.

When it came to picking out the soap dispenser/tray I originally had a black and marble pair, again from Nate Berkus.  However when I saw this deeper wood set I fell in love.  I loved how they looked paired with the rug and the towels.  I felt like they popped and I also think the went perfectly with the greenery.  I wanted to break up the black and white color scheme a little bit.  Plus I think it pops more against the white counter top.  These dispensers were also very inexpensive!  Nothing on the sink was over $10.  I added the wire basket above the toilet to hold the extra rolls of toilet paper!  You could also use it to hold washcloths!

The last major piece I needed to get was a shower curtain.  I knew from the start that I wanted a white one.

Tip:  If you have a really small bathroom, white really opens up the space!  It will make it look twice the size that it actually is.

This one is from Amazon and it is perfect!  I love the little pops of black that ties the whole room together.  This curtain really opened up the space and made it look much larger!  And once again, this curtain was a total steal for only $17.99 (originally $37.99 and currently still on SALE!)

All in all I am so happy with how this space turned out!  It has such a bright and calming feel and even though it’s technically the guest bathroom, this is where I will be taking all my relaxing baths!  If there is a room you have been wanting to revamp but haven’t in fear of the money, I want to encourage you that it can be done on a budget and still turn out amazing!
