    Birth Story Q&A

“Birth is not only about making babies.  Birth is about making mothers-strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.” -Barbara Katz Rothman Hi guys!  Welcome to my birth story!  Well, not my birth story, but my boys!  I thought I would do this a little differently and do it Q&A style.  This way I can talk about both boys labor and delivery experiences 🙂  So here we go! Did you go into labor naturally? With Jackson I was induced at 38 weeks due to a condition called Cholestasis.  I hated being induced and prayed that I would never have to be induced again.  The labor was longer…

    Tomorrow Sleep

My husband and I have been on the hunt for a new mattress for awhile.  We were so excited when Tomorrow Sleep sent us a mattress to try out.  We have had our new mattress for about a month now and I am so happy to share my thoughts on it.  Spoiler alert: We love it! We chose the Queen size, medium firm mattress.  Our old mattress was lumpy and way too soft.  My husband and I woke up with back pain almost every morning, and some nights would actually choose to sleep on the couch!  We had had enough and were ready to start the search for a new mattress.  Tomorrow Sleep…

    Bathroom Makeover on a Budget!

Ever since we moved into our new apartment nearly a year ago, our guest bathroom is one of the spaces that I have been dying to give a bit of a face lift to!  I had outgrown the old color scheme and patterns and wanted to go for a whole new aesthetic!  I love interior design…HGTV is my jam!  I’m passionate about design but I’m also just as passionate about doing it on a budget!  Lets face it, being a one income household does not leave us much wiggle room for extra expenses.  I wanted to show you guys that it is possible to make your space into a place…

    Season of change

“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join in the dance” -Alan W. Watts One thing I love about where I live is that I get to experience all four seasons.  As one season begins to end, I gear up to embrace the new one to come.  Much like the changing seasons, I am about to enter a season of change of my own.  I am getting ready to transition from a family of three, to a family of four.  To be honest, I haven’t quite embraced it like I do the changing weather.  Don’t get me wrong, I…

Finding Joy in the Simple Things

Today, as I watched my son freely run around and play outside, I was reminded just how important it is to find joy in the little things. Lately, life has been getting me down.  I often wonder when things will start to “work out” for us.  My husband and I live away from family due to his job.  That was a really hard change for me.  I have always been extremely close to my family.  My sister is my best friend.  So, not being able to go over and hang out with my family whenever I want to has always been a struggle for me.  Aside from distance, we are…

    Anxiety

Anxiety. I have struggled with anxiety since I was about 9 years old.  Although, back then, I had no idea that’s what it even was.  Ever since I was a little girl, I always had trouble with change.  My first memory of this was in elementary school.  I was in fifth grade and about to make the transition into middle school–that meant a new building, all new teachers, and new faces.  When the first day of sixth grade arrived, my body didn’t know how to handle it.  I felt so sick to my stomach and would just cry on the stairs uncontrollably.  I was constantly late to school because I…

    Toddler Fall Lookbook 2017

One of my favorite parts about Fall is the fashion!  Not only do I love to dress myself in the latest Fall trends, but I love to dress my little man in them as well!  I thought it would be fun to make a little lookbook full of some of my favorite fall clothing pieces for him, as well as my top places to shop! Look #1 I love this outfit so much!  He looks like such a little man!  His shirt is from Carters.  I  love neutrals, and maroon is one of my favorite colors for Fall!  His vest and khaki pants are both from Target.  Lastly, his little faux Timberlands…

    FALLing in Love

To say that fall is my favorite season would be an understatement.  What’s not to love about fall?  I love the smell of the crisp air, comfy knit sweaters and knee high boots.  I love the beautiful changing leaves and pumpkin spice everything!  Here is a list of reasons why I love fall! 1.FASHION Fall fashion is my absolute favorite.  Over-sized knit sweaters paired with leggings is my go-to.  I also love myself a good flannel and a pair of boots.  Knee high socks are also a staple for me.  I just love the cozy feeling of fall clothing!  They are perfectly comfortable  for cozying up on the couch, but also transition…

    What I wish I knew

There are so many things that I wish I knew before becoming a mother.  Sure, everyone tells you its a really hard job.  There are a lot of tears, a lot of sleepless nights, and a lot of diaper changes.  Here are some of the things I wish I could have told myself: 1. There will be many tears shed–and most of them will be from you.  Motherhood is so full of uncertainty.  The baby cries and cries and you have no idea why.  The baby won’t sleep, which means you don’t sleep.  You constantly feel like you’re doing everything wrong.  Mix all of that together and you are just…
